Richard DeVaul
The chief technical architect of Project Loon, DeVaul is the leader of Google X’s Rapid Evaluation Team and Design Kitchen, which looks for Google’s next big discovery (10). Thus far, Google X has also built Google Glass and Self-Driving Cars. DeVaul is the co-founder of Project Loon and currently does research for its development. Before working for Google, DeVaul attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Texas A&M University before going to work for Technology Advancement at Apple (10). In addition to his many inventions, DeVaul is also a Toshiba Fellow amongst other prestigious awards (9).
Mike Cassidy
The project leader of Project Loon and current Director of Google is known as the “Start Up King” and has launched several other successful companies including Direct Hit, Xfire, Ruba, and Stylus Innovation (8). With an education from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard Business School, and Berklee College of Music, Cassidy has a diverse range of knowledge and skills, which have ultimately lead to his resounding success (46). Cassidy is also the winner of DEMO Lifetime Achievement Award. While Cassidy continues to stun the business world with his sharp thinking, he is most renowned for his creativity, which has spawned such ventures as sending balloons into outer space.
