Public Response

Overall, the response for Google Lens has been overwhelmingly positive and Palo Alto based endocrinologist Dr. Larry Levin has even been cited claiming that this pain-free alternative to finger pricking is an innovative way that technology companies have become a major contributor to the health field (18). Despite this excitement, there have also been criticisms that the tears in the eye do not contain the same glucose levels as the rest of the body and that the LED device within the lens contains arsenic that may poison the user. While the product has not yet been looked over by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Google hopes that it can work out the details of the product so that eventually it can contribute to Google’s growing health empire (11).
